ISKCON Malaysia of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness is happy to announce that it has successfully completed the piling of 2,900 Reinforced Concrete Piles for the new Sri-Sri Radha-Krishna Temple of Devotion & Understanding Building Complex in Penang. All the piling was sponsored by the Rama RC Pile Sponsorship Scheme enunciated at the site on the 27^th April 2009. A total of RM 446,000-00 was raised which has covered the full cost of the piling works that amounted to RM 417,000-00. The overall project, including Civil and Structural, Ornamental, Mechanical & Electrical, Interior Decoration and Landscaping will cost in the region of RM 6 million.

As of 22 December 2009, progress payments amounted to RM 1,117,050-00 for structural works which are now at the roof level. This was being funded by donations from our building fund partners.

To keep the project on schedule and to encourage more required participation, on the 16^th January 2010 we will launch a Heaven on Earth comprehensive gifting scheme!! We are thus confident that with both our building fund partnership and the Heaven on Earth schemes the entire project will be successfully completed as scheduled in 2012.

Hare Krishna. 

In the morning there was worship of mother cow followed with cooking 31 Pots of ponggal. The 1 pot which was of much bigger size that the 30 identical pots was given to the BCC Youth Boys and myself. Like us, many cooks were caught off guard since cooking off clay pots using firewood was not as easy. Especially so when those who arranged and set the fireplaces and wood(undried wood) were youth boys who had hardly any experience using traditional methods of cooking. Though a lot of smoke was created the whole event actually took off very well encouraging lots of cooperation from cooks, youth boys to help fan fires and while youth girls were assisting cooks. It was fun time with lots of crying due to the terrible smoke. The skills of our robust National photographer HG Mulakaranam prabhu were tested. At times Mulakaranam could not go anywhere near the smokefilled air where the ponggal cooking was being done. Ponggal pots were all offered to Sri Sri Nitai Gauranga and Sri Sri Jagannatha, Baladeva & Subadra Devi and Sri Sri Radha Krishna. Everyone is looking forward to next year's ponggal and the BCC Youth boys are not going to take it lightly. This year ISKCON Sitiawan finished first on the Ponggolo Ponggal!!!!

The ISKCON Waterfall Road, Penang Island centre distributed more than 30,000 plates of Krishna Prasadam at the Thaipusam festival this year.

The 1927 copy of the Gaudia Matha Panjika is uploaded and put in this front page for the sake of those who will need copies of it. We will keep this article for 4 days on this front page before moving to another section.

Total of 30,898 Books were distributed for the year 2009 relating to 19570.1 Book Points.

HH Mahavisnu Swami peacefully left his body

At about 3PM IST HH Mahavisnu Swami (91 years) peacefully left his body at the Bhaktivedant Swami Hospital, Mumbai.

He will stay here for two days while disciples come from afar and then go to Nasika for Samadhi.

Many devotees were present with Kirtan. His eyes became clear as he looked around at everyone. He mouthed the Holy Name and left Is the end of a glorious lifetime of blissful preaching.

The following is cmments by HH Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura upon the departure of his gurus, Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura and Srila Gaura Kishor das Babaji.

“Today is one of great happiness and not the slightest grief. Today our master has reentered the eternal pastimes of the Lord. Now it is our duty to remember his eternal position , name, qualities, form and pastimes. Henceforth we will follow in his footsteps even more concentratedly.”"

Upone Babaji Maharja’s disappearance, Sri Siddhanta Saraswati in bemoaned. “Now whowill chastise me, to make me undderstand the truth as it is?” To whom will I show my articles and books? who will take pleasure in hearing about the preaching work and the increasing splendor of the dhama and our service to it?”

Hare Krishna. During the worldwide celebrations of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu's 500th Sannyasa Anniversary, devotees from different parts of the world were encouraged to hold Maha Harinams among many other preaching programmes.

In Malaysia HG Kripa Sindhu Krishna Dasa prabhu coordinated a nationwide Harinam programme from the 14th to the 19th of January. Many centres of ISKCON Malaysia gathered their congregations for Harinams in their local towns and villages.

HG Kripa Sindhu Krishna dasa prabhu who was also hosting the ISKCON Mayapur General Manager, HG Sankarsan Nitai prabhu and the Bhaktivedanta National School Administrators lead Harinams in Taiping, Bukit Mertajam, Kulim and Penang.

500^TH ANNIVERSARY OF LORD CAITANYA’S SANNYASA

JANUARY 14^TH-19^TH 2010

Throughout ISKCON we are celebrating from the 14^th January till the 19^th. The actual date of His sannyasa is a little obscure but it is definitely between those dates. Most likely it is the 18^th or the third day of the month of magha. Check your calendar. He left home early in the morning on the auspicious day of Makara sankranthi when the sun begins its northern journey. The Lord was in His 24^th year when he took sannyasa.

The 10th Annual Ratha Yatra at Sungei Siput on 19 December 2009 which began at the Sungei Siput Convention Hall was inaugurated by HH Janananda Goswami amidst rain showers. HH Prabhavisnu Swami joined the procession about 30 minutes into the procession.

Chairman of ISKCON Sungei Siput HG Krishna Daya prabhu and his congregation members worked hard to make sure that everyone was cared for and engaged during the festival. Even before the festival began about 150 children were sitting on round tables and very attentively taking part in the Krishna coloring competition. Youths were rehearsing dances and adults were running around doing last minute arrangements.
