World Holy Name Week 2009 begins on September 2nd and concludes on September 11th.
This year, our theme is:
“Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Srila Prabhupada's Sannyasa”.
We are planning: three main programs
1. September 4th: 50th Anniversary Harinama Sankirtan: Each center goes out on the streets with at least 50 devotees. 2. September 5th - 6th: Internet Sankirtan Party: Centers around the world unite in simultaneous kirtan connected by internet. Some of ISKCON's top kirtan leaders will participate. 3. September 2nd - 11th: Japathon: Devotees pledge to chant a specific number of rounds per day during the Japathon. Registration is on line, and calculated towards our goal of 10,000,000,000 Holy Names!
Hare Krishna. Concreting for the ground floor of the temple building was done today (27 July) using Grade 30 concrete from 9.30am till 4.45pm, exactly three months since the project launch on April 27.
Managing director of SH Butterworth Mr Lau Kean Lean, his project manager and site supervisor were personally present to supervise the works. We were with Kalesa prabu, Santi Vardhana Caitanya prabhu and Bhakta Satsvarupa for inspection works.
On 26 July morning we attended the Smrti Sabha of the late HG Uttama Caitanya prabhu who served as Temple President of Sri Jagannatha Mandir, ISKCON Kuala Lumpur. More than 500 devotees had gathered at the Sri Jagannatha Mandir, ISKCON Kuala Lumpur to offer their appreciations and glorifications of HG Uttama Caitanya prabhu.
HG Ajamila Prabhu, a very senior disciple of ISKCON Founder Acharya Srila Prabhupada who is also a Vastu and Astrology consultant delivered the morning bhagavatam class.Ajamila prabhu mentioned that one should not doubt that HG Uttama Caitanya prabhu went back to Godhead.
Srila Jayapataka Maharaj, the co-GBC of ISKCON Malaysia had specially presented his glorification through a video clip which was shown in the temple hall. Maharaj mentioned that Uttama Caitanya prabhu was the force behind the congregational development, a visionary, an austere devotee and attributed the success of increasing festival attendance such as Janmastmi due to the hard work of Uttama Caitanya prabhu. During the smrti sabha and due to lack of time only a few senior devotees were called to speak their golrifications while others were encouraged to write their glorifications and post on the blogspot.
On the evening of 25 July the ISKCON Sungei Siput Branch and the Melaka Sri Krishna Balaram Cultural and Arts Centres both had fund raising dinners in Sungei Siput and Melaka respectively.
We had the opportunity to be with ISKCON Sungei Siput for their dinner night. Yang Berbahagia Dato S. Veerasingam, the special advisor for Indian Affairs to the Perak Menteri Besar attended and officiated the function as the special guest and specially on the instruction of the Menteri Besar. When presenting his address Dato Veerasingam pledged to assist the ISKCON Sungei Siput temple building project and said that not only will he request financial assistance from the state through the Perak Menteri Besar but also from the Federal government through Dato Seri S. Samy Vellu.

I am shocked, sad and regret to inform that His Grace Uttama Caitanya dasa bramachari a disciple of His Holiness Srila Jayapataka Maharaj and the temple president of ISKCON Sri Jagannatha Mandir, Kuala Lumpur left his body in the association of devotees who were attending a 2 day congregational development meeting at Klang beginning 18 July 2009. His Grace left his body at about 5.30PM on Kamika Ekadasi July 18 due to sudden heart illness.
His Grace was a very dedicated servant of his guru maharaj and was the most inspiring force for the Sri Jagannatha Mandir congregation and recently also began spreading his congregational development enthusiasm in the neigbouring and far countries. He alway kept taking the congregational preaching programme to newer and newer heights. Thousands will be missing him.
Cortege will leave Sri Jagannatha Mandir Kuala Lumpur on 19 July at 3PM to the Loke Yew Crematorium.

Today, 5 July beginning at 10.0am, the Sri Sri Jagannatha Mandir, ISKCON Kuala Lumpur devotees packed into the temple hall to see a presentation on the Bhakti Home or Sraddha Kutir programme. The Bhakti Home is one of the preaching tools of the Nama Hatta (congregational preaching) ministry of ISKCON. After the power point presentation by HG Uttama Caitanya dasa, the temple president of ISKCON Kuala Lumpur, about 200 devotees were awarded their Sraddha Kutir certificates. The Sraddha Kutir is a simple but powerful tool which when employed will certainly assist local ISKCON Malaysia centres in their preaching expansion and an easy way to keep track of their congregational growth.
Immediately after the launch and handing of certificates HG Tyaga Caitanya dasa led the chanting of Lord Narasimha prayers specially praying for the good health and quick recovery of devotees facing health issues.
How to qualify as a Sraddha Kutir and be a part of a wonderful preaching mission of Lord Caitanya?
In all living beings, there are bimolecular systems that indicate intelligent design, like protein synthesis, the cell’s complex structure, etc. Sometimes however, remarks are made that there are things that look unintelligently designed rather than intelligently, like the approximately 30% of all newly, improperly synthesized proteins that are immediately broken down by the cell. In other words, a production rate with a defective result of 30% is a big waist, so how can this indicate intelligent design?
